March 31, 2019 - Bear Creek Water Association General Manager Nolan Williamson had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. last week to participate in the 2019 AWWA Water Matters! Fly-In.  The trip was funded and sponsored by the American Water Works Association, and Nolan was chosen to represent approximately 1200 water systems within the state of Mississippi.   Also attending from Mississippi were Dr. Jason Barrett, Assistant Extension Professor with Mississippi State University, and Mark Snow of Core & Main.  The purpose of the trip was to meet with Mississippi's U.S. Senators and Congressmen to discuss the needs and issues pertaining to drinking water within the state of Mississippi.  Forty-nine of the fifty states participated in the event.  While in our nation's capital, Nolan had the opportunity to meet with Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith, Congressman Bennie Thompson, and staff members from the offices of Congressmen Michael Guest, Trent Kelly, and Steven Palazzo.  See our photos page for pictures from the trip.
